Parking Permits

MICA Parking Permit

Parking in the College lots requires a parking permit (available from Campus Safety). Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please display your parking permit on the lower driver side windshield. The purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space, but students who arrive early generally park without difficulty. Students must be in a campus building while parked on campus. With the exception of the Founders Green lot, overnight parking on campus is not permitted. These lots are not attended, so cars should be locked. Maryland Institute College of Art is not responsible for damage to vehicles kept on the lot or for the theft of valuables left in cars. For more information about parking lots, parking passes, and parking policies visit here  or contact Campus Safety at 410-225-2355.

To obtain or renew a parking permit, please fill out this ONLINE PERMIT REQUEST  from Campus Safety.  You may also go to the Campus Safety Office at 1501 W. Mt. Royal Avenue during business hours (7:30am - 3:30pm).  You may pick up your permit from Campus Safety where you must sign a permit application.

Off Campus Residents - Baltimore City Residential Parking Permit

Baltimore City signs are posted regulating on street parking.  Please take the time to read these signs as they vary from block to block.

If this service is offered in your neighborhood, students who live off-campus may obtain a Baltimore City Resident Parking Permit.  You must have a valid student ID, proof of residence (a lease, notarized letter from your landlord, utility bill, etc.), your driver's license, car registration, and tag number.

Please note: If you do not have your own motor vehicle insurance policy, and if the motor vehicle is not registered under your name, you will need a notarized letter from whomever has insured the vehicle with permission to have the car in Baltimore before the city will issue you a parking permit. (You may also have to go to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration to get an out-of-state registration permit if your car is not registered in Maryland.)

Residents who are new to a Residential Parking Permit area MUST APPLY FOR PERMITS IN-PERSON with all necessary documentation including vehicle registration and proof of residency at the Baltimore Parking Authority Office. 200 W. Lombard Street, Baltimore, MD 21201

Most parking in the neighborhood surrounding MICA (Bolton Hill) is restricted to a two-hour time limit, as posted, unless you have an Area 3 Resident Permit. It is therefore recommended that students obtain a MICA Parking Permit.

For more information about Baltimore City Residential Parking Permits, contact the Baltimore City Office of Parking Permits, 443-573-2800.

Health & Insurance Forms

A Message from Dr. Judith M. Kinney, Associate Dean for Student Health and Wellness:

As part of our commitment to foster optimal health and wellness for our students, MICA has a mandatory student health insurance policy in place for all students. The policy requires students attending MICA to maintain health insurance coverage that covers them every day of their higher education career. This policy helps to ensure that students do not have to make a choice between continuing their education and paying medical bills. If you have private health insurance that is comparable to the school-sponsored plan, you may waive out of the insurance. If you do not have private health insurance, or it does not provide coverage in the Baltimore, MD area, you will need to enroll in the insurance plan. Additional information will be mailed to your home address on file with MICA over the next few weeks.  After July 15, you may visit https://qmservicesinc.com/ for additional information on the Student health insurance program and answers to frequently asked questions. Read the complete letter here.
