Welcome from the Center for Identity and Inclusion!

"Dear Graduate Students,

MICA is an exciting place to grow and develop as an artist. I want to take this time to welcome you to our campus. The Center for Identity and Inclusion's mission is to create a welcoming environment for all students, with a specific focus on the academic, social, and cultural needs of students pertaining to issues of culture, class, race, gender, sexuality, identity, religion and more. We welcome you to participate in all of the exhibitions, programs, and all related diversity activities.

The Center for Identity and Inclusion is located in the Fox Building, room 110,  and is a safe space for students to obtain information, engage in dialogue, and acquire resources and support essential to their success at MICA. Our philosophy is based on fostering recognition, inclusion, and respect for the voices of all students. Students from different backgrounds can participate in a variety of programming to learn more about each other and the global community. Our office supports the role of diversity in fostering a stimulating learning environment and serving as a bridge to new artistic endeavors.

This Office also supports clubs and organizations specific to supporting students based on race/culture. They include: Agape Campus Christian Fellowship, ALT J, Asian Student Alliance (ASA), Black Student Union (BSU), Brown Asian Student Union (BASU), Buddhism in Action, Disciples on Campus,  German Club, Koinonia Christian Fellowship, Korean Student Association (KSA), Maryland Institute Queer Alliance (MIQA), Mission in Christian Artist and Oy!

Join me at the Peer to Peer Workshop Friday, August 23rd from 3:30PM - 5PM, location L 160.

Please check our webpage for more details of the office and upcoming activities"

- Clyde Johnson, Jr., Associate Dean of the Center for Identity and Inclusion
