The Alfred and Trafford Klots International Program for Artists

Deadline February 01, 2020

Website | Application

The Maryland Institute College of Art is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2020 session of The Alfred and Trafford Klots International Program for Artists in Brittany, France. Residencies will be awarded to a total of 4 to 8 American artists. We accept applications from individual artists and from artist-couples (both must be accepted).

The Alfred and Trafford Klots International Program for Artists provides time for uninterrupted work in an inspiring and historic setting made unique by Brittany's extraordinary light, distinctive landscape, and rich cultural traditions. The program awards successful applicants with free housing and studio space in the village of Léhon.

The residency is housed in the medieval riverside village of Léhon, which is a "Petite Cité de Caractère" and is graced by a medieval abbey and its gardens and by the ruins of the oldest fortress in Brittany on a hill overlooking the village. Léhon is a short walk from the city of Dinan, which holds the coveted designation "Cité d'Art et d'Histoire" and is close to Dinard, Saint-Malo, Mont Saint-Michel, and Rennes. The fishing villages and beaches of the Emerald Coast are also nearby. Our artists have free access to the Léhon abbey and its gardens.
