Two artists will be selected to participate in a 3-week residency (July 10-31, 2020) during which time they will pursue in-depth investigations into one concept or technique of their choice. Visiting Artists will be provided private on-campus accommodations, full access to MTSU Print Media Studios (including Letterpress, Screen Printing, Relief, Intaglio, and Lithography facilities), parking pass, a $600 materials budget and a $1500.00 stipend. Travel to and from MTSU is the responsibility of each selected artist.
Participating artists will present a 30-minute artist talk, demonstrate their working processes to students registered in Art and Design summer courses, and offer an all-ages public workshop. At the end of the residency, one piece each artist produced during their residency will be donated to the MTSU permanent art collection. Artists will be asked to submit an evaluation of their experience, along with recommendations for how the program could be implemented moving forward.
