Call for Proposals: NEH Summer Stipends Summer '22

Deadline July 28, 2021

Application

MICA's Office of Research invites full-time faculty to submit preliminary proposals for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends program.

NEH Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months during the summer of 2022. Successful applicants receive a stipend of up to $6,000. Eligible projects usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials and publications, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources.

The college may nominate up to two full-time faculty members based upon preliminary proposal materials submitted through the application linked above. Proposals are due by 12pm July 28, 2021. Materials are then reviewed by the Associate Dean of Liberal Arts with support from the Grants Coordinator for The Office of Research. Applications are reviewed and scored based on a rubric that can be viewed here. Recommendations are submitted to the Director of Research who acts as the college’s nominating official. Nominees will be required to complete a full NEH Summer Stipend application at grants.gov by September 22, 2021.

NOTE: Part-time faculty members are eligible to apply for NEH Summer Stipends independently and do not require an institutional nomination.
