Shandaken: Storm King is a ground-breaking collaboration bringing Shandaken Projects’ signature, process-focused residencies to the grounds of the world-renowned outdoor museum, Storm King Art Center.
The residency provides free housing and studio facilities with the particular aim of supporting process and experimentation. Opportunities last for two to six weeks, an allotment which is determined at the time of acceptance between residents and the project’s staff. The shapes of residencies are largely determined by the residents themselves. The residency grounds are peaceful and private, but Storm King’s main site and vibrant towns of the Lower Hudson Valley region are nearby.
The 2022 residency season will take place June 20 through October 9. It is open to cultural producers internationally (however please note that travel costs are not provided for). Shandaken: Storm King maintains a four-bedroom house where residents and a facilities manager are housed together; as well as three private studios, one for each resident. Although the house and studios are technically located on the grounds of Storm King Art Center, visitors to Storm King are permitted to access the residency only by special invitation of residents themselves. During the Covid-19 pandemic, guests are not allowed at Shandaken: Storm King.
