Deadline June 08, 2018

Website | Applications

The City of Boston, as part of a Percent for Art program, invites artists and artist teams to apply to create a permanent public artwork to complement the recent renovations of the Dudley Branch Library. Proposals should be submitted as written concepts; no design work will be considered until the artist/team is selected.

The City is embarking on comprehensive renovations to the Dudley Branch of the Boston PublicLibrary. These efforts will fully modernize the facility, create a warm and welcoming environment, and enhance its presence in the Roxbury Community. The $17.2 million renovation includes a new welcome area overlooking a redesigned plaza; improved visibility and openness; dedicated space for children, teens, and adults; a prominently featured African-American collection; a nutrition lab and learning lab; refreshed collections; and more. The Boston Art Commission is also refurbishing an existing piece in the City’s permanent collection, The Word, which will remain on the facade of the
building.
