RFQ: Midtown Public Art Project City of Reno

Deadline April 05, 2019

Website | Application

The Reno Arts & Culture Commission (RACC) is seeking qualifications from artists, or artist teams, interested in developing a large-scale public art project in the Midtown District of Reno that reflects the vibrancy and community of one of Reno’s emerging cultural districts in conjunction with a street reorientation project led by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County. The Midtown District of Reno is an up-and-coming area just south of downtown Reno with many restaurants, shops, and small businesses.

The Midtown District of Reno is located along South Virginia Street between Liberty Street at the north end and Plumb Lane on the south end. The neighborhood was once a blighted area that is now a hub in our community for galleries, restaurants, shops, and businesses. This community came together to form an official business district and has transformed the area into an eclectic and thriving neighborhood. Locals describe the area as hip, vibrant, eclectic, gritty, and evolving. Midtown has a unique character and history and the hope is that this public art project will incorporate this identity.
