National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends

Deadline August 01, 2019

Guidelines | Application

MICA's Office of Research invites interested full-time faculty to submit preliminary proposals for internal review as nominees for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends.

NEH Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months during the summer of 2020. Successful applicants receive a stipend of $6,000. Eligible projects usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials and publications, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources.

The college may nominate up to two full-time faculty members based upon preliminary proposal materials submitted through the application linked above by August 1, 2019. Materials are then reviewed by the Associate Dean of Liberal Arts with support from the Grants Coordinator for The Office of Research, and recommendations are submitted to the Vice Provost of Research who acts as the college’s nominating official. Applications are reviewed and scored based on a rubric that can be reviewed here. Nominees will be required to complete a full NEH Summer Stipend application at grants.gov by September 25, 2019.

NOTE: Part-time faculty members are eligible to apply for NEH Summer Stipends independently and do not require institutional nomination.
