Graphic Design Volunteer for Baltimore Youth Arts

Baltimore Youth Arts is a creative entrepreneurship and job training program that provides artistic and professional opportunities to youth, ages 14-22, with a focus on those involved in the justice system. Our mission is to assist young people in gaining the creative, personal, and educational skills that will enable them to become leaders in their communities. 

Baltimore Youth Arts is currently seeking an intern to design various materials for the upcoming spring semester at the BYA Community Studio located at 116 W Mulberry St Baltimore, MD 21201. The graphic designer will work 4-8hrs/week until the completion of the projects. 

Desired Start Date: February 4, 2020 

 

Scope of Work: 

The Graphic Design intern will assist in the design and execution of various projects to better support BYA’s external communication. The intern will: 

● Edit and update design of inaugural infographic 

● Designing info card for BYA Sales 

● Assist BYA staff in editing Gathering , published book of student artwork 

● Help design any external communication including: an annual report draft, one sheet for funders meetings/presentations, postcards for recruitment 

● Edit brochure design & content 

● Create general information flyer for youth and partners 

 

Preferred Skills 

● Advanced in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign 

● Experience working with youth 

● Reliable and able to meet deadlines 

● Ability to work independently and on a team 

● Ability to follow style guidelines, instructions and feedback 

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

● Successful candidate will have a reliable source of transportation 

● Belief in the creative potential and voices of young people affected by the juvenile justice system
