As we wrap things up for the end of the year I want to thank everyone for doing their best to keep the facilities clean and safe.
To all students enrolled in Fiber classes, please take a moment to read the following important information regarding the closure of the fiber dept facilities for the summer and resources provided by MICA to aid in that transition. Teachers please remind your students of the following...
Fiber Facility Clean Out Reminders
Fiber Dept. Lockers: All lockers in S201 must be emptied by the end of the day Thursday May 4th (S201 and the Tool Crib are being transformed for the senior thesis Friday morning). All other lockers in the dept must be emptied by 3pm Friday May 5th.
Fiber Dept. Tool Crib: The Tool Crib closes at 9am sharp on Friday May 5th. You will not be able to access the tool crib after this time! We begin to transform S201 and push furniture into the tool crib later that morning. Please make sure all your items are returned before 9am Friday May 5th.
No Storage of Student Work Over the Summer: No work can be stored here over the summer. Make sure you have removed all of your work by 3pm Friday May 5th. We begin transforming the spaces for the senior thesis show and we do not offer storage space for students over the summer. Sadly any and all work left in the studios after this time will be thrown away. Please make the necessary preparations to remove your things.
No Studio Hours Over the Summer: Unfortunately the Fiber facilities and studios are not available for use over the summer. The Fiber facilities officialy close on Friday May 5th at 3pm. The Fiber staff needs this time to prepare for the senior thesis show, take the show down after commencement, make repairs, clean, take inventory, prepare for next fall and to accommodate Pre-College students and ArtScape. Also all students who use the studios must be insured to do so. The undergraduate insurance program for students enrolled in the fall and spring semesters does not continue into the summer.
Senior Studios: Rooms S203, S204 and the Mezzanine Studio F must be cleaned out by 11am Friday May 5th. All reservations for Tool Crib equipment or studio resources need to be documented in the orange binder titled “Senior Thesis Exhibit 2017” before Michelle leaves Thursday May 4th before 3pm. If you need dress forms, sewing machines, use of dye room, silkscreen equipment, or print table let a studio manager know before 3pm May 4th. More information will be provided to you by Fiber studio managers regarding your thesis installation and take down. You have already received information from Michelle regarding the senior studio move out procedures.
