Lillstreet Art Center is currently accepting applications for it's year long residency program. This is a paid program that includes a studio space, opportunities to teach and take unlimited classes throughout the building. We are currently looking for residents in almost all of our departments: Ceramics, Drawing and Painting, Printmaking and Book Arts, Textiles, Photography, and Digital Arts and Fabrication. As Director of the Textiles Department and a past resident artist I feel particularly qualified to recommend the program. I'm writing to you specifically because we frequently consider applicants directly out of college and I'm hoping you'd be willing to share this opportunity with the students of the MICA Fibers Department. Although the residency does not pay enough to live on, it's a start and it provides a creative home-base for recent grads. I'd be happy to answer any questions you or your students have in regards to the program.
You can read more about the program and the current AIRs on the Lillstreet website.

Lillstreet’s artist-in-residence program provides a unique opportunity for artists to work in a collaborative, community-based arts center. Artists-in-Residence are encouraged to develop their existing bodies of work and explore new processes and concepts. The residency allows artists to shape and structure their time at Lillstreet to fit their own goals. Residents spend some of their time dedicated to working with students in order to enrich the educational programs, offering students the opportunity to see and learn from working artists. Residents will have the opportunity to work with ArtReach, our community outreach program, to provide arts education to underserved communities in Chicago.Â
