Summer Internships at the Maryland Center of Fashion Design

Deadline June 30, 2017

To celebrate their "Heirloom to Haute" Gala, The Maryland Historical Society asked Ella to create two custom dresses. The Gala was a celebration of the Society's 10,000 pieces of clothing and costumes, including those made by Maryland-born designer Claire McCardell. McCardell is credited with inventing American Sportswear, the ballet flat shoe and the iconic Popover dress. Ella's task was to produce recreations of two McCardell dresses, but with a modern twist and flair. As usual, Ella's work didn't disappoint and the more than 300 guests fawned over what she created. Both dresses were raffled off at the end of the evening and the lucky winners will meet with ella to ensure the fit is perfectly tailored to their shape and size. Ella was thrilled to be apart of such a glamorous event and able to help fund the ongoing efforts of the Historical Society.
