Partnering with Art+Feminism, a collective that aims to improve the coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia, Decker Library is running a workshop titled, "Post-Fact Economy?: Teaching with Wikipedia in an art and design context."
This event would address the benefits of understanding and teaching with Wikipedia. In the words of danah boyd, "too many students I met were being told that Wikipedia was untrustworthy and were, instead, being encouraged to do research. As a result, the message that many had taken home was to turn to Google and use whatever came up first. They heard that Google was trustworthy and Wikipedia was not." Editing Wikipedia can actually help students understand citation practices and peer review in a real world context.
