ARTIST STATEMENT:

This semester I’ve been focusing on creating work surrounding this unnamed cat suit creature. I started with a focus of developing the character but I really wanted to explore the different art I could make surrounding the same subject. I’ve always admired Christian iconography and their use of symbolism hidden throughout many religious paintings, and wanted to incorporate a similar idea with this project. These hits of symbolism are usually referencing my memories take their form in graphic imagery, both visually and conceptually. For the second part of the semester I worked on bringing this character to life by creating their outfit, specifically the cat hat.
