ARTIST STATEMENT:
These Skins are the result of an act or performance that is defined by the processing of my body’s past, present, and future, as well as its relationship to its environment throughout that time. When the viewer examines these skins they see the remnants of my past including cloths, sheets, wrappers, towels, and other objects I have come in contact with throughout my life. However, as they examine these various layers of skin they are unable to see the performance that defines the art. I am withholding access to what could be referred to as the core of the piece because I am unwilling to present myself on a platter to anyone who observes this piece. When people look at this piece they must be made aware of the fact that they are looking at a pelt on a wall but will never see its source.
