ARTIST STATEMENT:

After moving back home, I've been learning to adjust my practice to having less space and using materials I have on hand. Through this process I’ve gathered inspiration from my family's collection of quilts made by my Great Grandmother. She constructed these quilts using only scraps and in the end created objects that have been loved and passed down in my family for years. Continuing this lineage of making, I have upholstered a rocking chair with quilts made from scraps I found around my house, inspired by the ones she made. Displayed on my front porch, this chair is meant to give my family a sense of comfort during this strange time in out lives.
